CHARACTER
The paper started out as a collection of newsletters published by the various clubs of Dutch emigrants in Melbourne, reporting on their adventures, their celebrations, successes and the mother country.
Since then it has developed into a regular paper, serving a Dutch community of 96,000 first-generation Dutch in Australia in both English and Dutch. About 33,000 Dutch-born emigrants live in Melbourne, and 30,000 in Sydney. An estimated 250,000 Australians are born of one or two Dutch parent(s). Not all emigrants have subscribed (about 10,000) but these subscriptions are shared by many. Another example of 'turning around the dime before spending it'.
The paper provides coverage of events in the Dutch community in Victoria and in the Netherlands, such as changes to the pension schemes, citizenship and laws, news on the royal families, pictures of the Netherlands and Flanders as they are today as well as the latest on aged care in the Dutch community and social events. In addition to a group of Victorian correspondents, it currently runs columns by correspondents from other states, such as Tasmania, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

- Overseas correspondents like Koen Reynaert provides insightful reports on Fladers.
